At the state level, employment opportunities exist with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and the Department of Juvenile Justice. NOTE: Each corrections, probation and parole agency has specific employment and training requirements. </h1><<endif>><<if visited("ASTECH")>><h1 class="congrats">Once you complete this pathway, you will be prepared for careers or employment in the following fields: you will be prepared to take most California fire department entrance examinations.</h1><<endif>><<if visited("PREVET")>><h1 class="congrats">Upon successful completion of this degree, students will be prepared for careers or employment in the following fields: firefighter, firefighter-paramedic, fire investigation, fire prevention, hazardous materials, and public education. The fire service offers many career opportunities for graduates including positions in municipal fire departments, fire protection districts, and more than 250 California state fire protection agencies. There are also employment opportunities in forestry agencies, correctional institutions, military bases, and numerous federal agencies.</h1><<endif>><<if visited("ASPLANT")>><h1 class="congrats">Once you complete this pathway, you qualify to transfer to a four-year university in the CSU system or seek employment. This degree is specifically intended to facilitate a seamless transfer to the CSU system, but it also provides the preparation necessary for immediate employment in city and county law enforcement, correctional officer, jail and juvenile hall detention officer, group home counselor.
