Description

COS offers several certifications to prepare students for entry level work as a CAD Technician/Draftsperson.

The Certificate of Achievement in Autodesk AutoCAD for Drafting prepares students for entry-level employment as a CAD Technician/Draftsperson. Students completing this certificate will acquire knowledge and skills related to creating and appraising manufacturing and industrial applications (2D and 3D), specifically AutoCAD drawings. Students must complete 12 units. Students will complete all three courses using the Autodesk AutoCAD computer software. Click here for more information about course requirements. Once you complete this pathway, you will be prepared for employment in the following fields: CAD Technician/Draftsperson in manufacturing or industrial fields.

The Certificate of Achievement in Dassault Systemes SolidWorks prepares students for entry-level employment as a CAD Technician/Draftsperson. Students completing this certificate will acquire knowledge and skills related to creating and appraising manufacturing and industrial applications (2D and 3D), specifically AutoCAD and SolidWorks drawings. Students must complete 12 units. Students will complete two courses using the Autodesk AutoCAD software and one course using Dassault Systemes SolidWorks. Once you complete this pathway, you will be prepared for employment in the following fields: CAD Technician/Draftsperson in manufacturing or industrial fields.

The Certificate of Achievement in Mechanical Drafting prepares students for entry-level employment as a CAD Technician/Draftsperson. Students completing this certificate will acquire knowledge and skills related to creating and appraising manufacturing and industrial applications (2D and 3D), specifically CAD and tactile (by hand) drawings. Goals and Certificates

After completing this program, students will earn a Certificate of Achievement in Autodesk AutoCAD for Drafting, a Certificate of Achievement in Dassault Systemes SolidWorks or a Certificate of Achievement in Mechanical Drafting.

Prerequisites and Required Assessments

There are no prerequisites for enrolling in Manufacturing programs at COS. Even though a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Certificate is not required, it is preferred. Some employers prefer to hire employees with a High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate. There are also more options for financial aid at COS for students who have a High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate.

Students must take a placement test to enroll in math and English classes for the general education requirements. Students should meet with a counselor to determine the correct placement in these classes.
