Description

COS offers both a Certificate of Achievement in Industrial Maintenance Technology and an Associate of Science in Industrial Maintenance Technology.

The Certificate of Achievement prepares students for entry-level employment in the fields of industrial maintenance, industrial machine operation, industrial electrician, corrections facilities maintenance, hospital engineer, and food service machine technicians. Students completing this certificate will acquire employment skills in the area of electricity, motor controls and programmable motor drives, programmable logic controllers, hydraulics/pneumatics, industrial mechanics, machining, refrigeration and boilers, and welding. Once you complete this pathway, you will be prepared for employment in the following fields: industrial maintenance technician, industrial machine operator, industrial electrician, corrections facilities maintenance, hospital engineer, and food service machine technician.

This degree prepares students for entry-level employment and/or potential further study in the fields of Industrial Technology/ Industrial Maintenance. Students completing this degree will have a foundation for the field of Industrial Technology through the study of electricity, motor controls and programmable motor drives, programmable logic controllers, hydraulics/pneumatics, industrial mechanics, machining, refrigeration and boilers, and welding. Students will acquire skills and abilities in the design of electrical circuits, reading and interpreting schematics, encoding programmable devices, and design of facility changes for industrial applications. Goals and Certificates

After completing this program, students will earn either a Certificate of Achievement in Industrial Maintenance Technology or an Associate of Science in Industrial Maintenance Technology.

Prerequisites and Required Assessments

There are no prerequisites for enrolling in Manufacturing programs at COS. Even though a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Certificate is not required, it is preferred. Some employers prefer to hire employees with a High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate. There are also more options for financial aid at COS for students who have a High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate.

Students must take a placement test to enroll in math and English classes for the general education requirements. Students should meet with a counselor to determine the correct placement in these classes.
